Comprehensive and complete brand experience

Whirlpool asked us to create a mobile showroom to demonstrate its appliances to resellers and bring the “Whirlpool experience” to their doorstep. A key requirement was that Whirlpool’s account managers would be able to take the mobile showroom out on their own, meaning it had to be drivable with a standard driver’s license. This imposed strict limits on the vehicle’s weight and size.

At the same time, Whirlpool wanted to be able to demonstrate as many appliances as possible – not just visually, but functionally as well. This meant that a stovetop or an oven could fully function. On top of that, they wanted the ability to swap out the appliances for a new product or product line. And: everything had to be able to operate off-grid.

Custom-designed and custom-made with extreme precision

To meet all requirements and wishes, we first agreed on which equipment was essential to be operational – in addition to heating, lighting, air conditioning, etc. Based on that, we were able to determine which appliances needed to be fully built-in and which only required a front panel (for display demonstrations).

All the interior work in the truck is completely custom-made. It was designed with extreme precision and built using the lightest possible materials. We incorporated smart cutouts that don’t compromise structural integrity and are invisible from the outside, making the walls appear solid. This allowed us to de-engineer as much weight out of the design as possible.

The truck is powered by a battery pack that can be charged overnight. For an average day’s use, it operates completely “unplugged”. If more power is needed, you can switch to the “medium” or “ultra” scenario, in which case you connect a cable and can functionally demonstrate more devices at the same time. Depending on the cable you connect, the truck knows which scenario to run and which devices to power.

The concept

For Whirlpool, we created a luxury mobile showroom where a large selection of home appliances can be demonstrated functionally and “unplugged” on-site. This mobile brand experience is not only attractive and practical but was also built within strict weight and size restrictions, allowing anyone with a standard driver’s license to operate it. A highly comprehensive concept in which functionality, usability, design, and experience come together perfectly to meet every need.
